LAAFFArts 2 People is excited to bring you the 10th annual FREE, Lexington Ave Arts and Fun Festival. Three blocks of N. Lexington Ave will be lined with all local art, food, beer and street performers on Saturday September 3rd from 11am to 11pm and Sunday, September 4th from 11am – 9pm between College Street and the I 240 overpass. The street will be brimming with a celebration Asheville's diverse and unique culture.

 

Three stages and two courtyards of music and performance include rock and roll, indie pop, funk, folk, ragtime, reggae, world beats, singer songwriters, bluegrass, old time, drummers, vaudeville, fire dancers, break dancers, hula hoopers, circus arts, and more Our interactive areas include sideshow, Hoops, face painting, freak fashions, hands on art fun, and a variety of surprising creative offerings from our local arts community.

 

LAAFFLAAFF is great for the whole family. Kids will love making art, dancing, and having fun all day long. Many kids' performance acts include kids' hip hop, break dancing, modern dance, jump roping, jazz and more. The big "kids" will enjoy the always popular bicycle jousting and bike games, local brews, and an eclectic culinary and artistic experience.

 

Your contribution of joining us and experiencing a fun day of creative expression will support local non-profit Arts 2 People and our many projects. Arts 2 People is devoted to promoting the role of the arts as an integral part of our culture by serving the entire community through arts outreach, bringing the arts to those in need, supporting the careers of artists, and through community cultural development. Arts 2 People's many projects include The Pritchard Park Cultural Arts Program, The REACH Educational series, The Asheville Mural Project, Moving Women, The Faces of Asheville and more. You Can Help Create LAAFF, too!

  • •  Mini Grants
    This year, LAAFF is accepting applications for special spaces at the festival. We will provide a tent, tables, chairs, and supplies for great interactive art ideas. Your idea should be something that will delight and entertain our visitors, and give them a unique arts experience that fits the LAAFF vibe. And yes, you can sell your stuff, too. Write us a proposal! Send ideas to Kitty Love at kitty@arts2people.org. Deadline? Aw, come on guys. the sooner the better! Why wait?

  • •  Art Car Painting Party
    Every year at LAAFF a car is transformed from a plain jane "normal" car to a creative funk art with an Asheville flair. Donate your car! It's tax deductible!

    •  Art and Craft Vending
    Everybody gets a corner thanks to our unique quad arrangement that lines the street from College to Woodfin! Apply for your booth space by filling out the application. If you have any question please contact our vending coordinator, Rebecca Hecht.
  • •  Food Vending
    Local culinary artists and brewers showcase their talents for everyone to try. If you would like to vend food or beer at LAAFF download the food vender application.

Thank you for taking interest in Lexington Avenue Arts & Fun Festival!



Below are the guidelines for submitting your band to play this year’s event. The dates of the festival are September 3rd & 4th, 2011. All genres of music are welcome.Music is selected democratically by the LAAFF Music Committee. Bands are not allowed to play 2 years in a row.



The submission deadline is Friday JUNE 17TH.
